The Diary of a Strong Black Woman

The foundation

Have you ever had a vision of your dream home playing over and over in your mind?  You begin to put pictures of your dream home as a screen saver on all of your devices. You even have it on your vision board. You basically have it everywhere to visually see it as a reminder that this is the ultimate goal you are reaching for in life. When you have this vision in your mind and you have it everywhere, you want to start working towards it. You want to start changing your mindset and doing what’s necessary to get that dream house you desire. So what do you do to change the way you think? You start to change the way you speak. You start to do what’s necessary to make this vision become a reality. Now we’re not architects so we don’t know how this house is going to be made, nor what materials will be needed to build this amazing dream home.  However, we have this vision of what we want it to look like although we don’t know the full details of how the architect is going to bring our vision to life.

process of elimination

The process of change has begun. It’s time to focus on what direction life is going to take you. I remember as a little girl when I made a decision to run away at the age of 13 years old. That was a journey that I will never forget. I was not prepared for the things that came, the things that took place in my life while wondering around in the dark.  Have you ever gone to a place where you have never gone to before and entered that place and there are no lights, so you roamed around in the dark trying to find your way? This is where I was in life. I was walking blindly, going absolutely nowhere. This was the time that the walls of hurt and pain came up. Sorting out the good from the bad is a little bit hard to do when you have no experience of life and you’re going in your own direction. Wandering in the wilderness trying to find what was lost and ending up back in the same stuck situations and crazy circumstances becomes the life I was choosing to live. You may be in a place trying to find your way out, but crazy as it may sound, you don’t even realize that you’re in the wilderness. You’re just living and enjoying life; everything seems fun in this stage of life. You live life with no worries, not a care in the world, just living not knowing what hurtful, painful, memorable situations are ahead.

Broken for Purpose

When we have been broken in such a way, sometimes we don’t know how we are going to make it through our brokenness. Even though it may seem hard to go through at that particular moment as well as every subsequent time and it seems like an impossible journey, in spite of the pain we go through it. Then we look back and ask ourselves, “How in the world did I make it through that?” Well, the good news is that you were born with the endurance to go through the storm and the rain, the sunshine and the pain. You were created for greatness and God provided you with all the ingredients you need to make it through every test and trial. Second Chronicles 20:15 (NIV) says, “For the battle is not yours, it belongs to the Lord.” That broken heart was the will of the Lord for your life. It was your ordained assignment to go through that so you could get to your next level. You weren’t in those battles alone. You have the great I AM with you and in you. He takes your burdens and makes them light. That rejection shifted you into the right direction, and now you can breathe again, live again and smile again. Remember, trials come to make you stronger, and to endure the process so that you can live the promises of God for your life. Good soldiers endure and go through the fire .
